 Tooth loss can happen for many reasons. You may lose teeth as a result of gum disease, or you may lose teeth because of a traumatic facial injury.
No matter what causes your tooth loss, or how many teeth you lose, your whole life is affected. Dental implants are a popular treatment used to replace missing teeth. Typically, however, you wear temporary restorations until you heal, after which you receive your final dental restorations.

Tooth Replacement with Dental Implants
Dental implants are the modern solution for tooth loss. The implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into your jawbone to provide support for your replacement teeth.
Your bone fuses to these posts, integrating them into your jaw. They essentially become strong, stable roots that help to hold your replacement teeth securely in place. This prevents them from shifting around or even falling out completely.
The Typical Dental Implant Process
When getting implants, you need to undergo surgery. Incisions are made in your gums to expose the bone underneath. Holes are drilled into your bone, and the posts are placed directly inside. After your gums are sutured closed, temporary teeth are placed. These teeth are meant to be used during your entire recovery, which can take several weeks to several months.
After you have fully healed from surgery, the temporary teeth are removed, and the abutments are placed.
Next, impressions of your mouth are taken. These impressions are sent to a dental lab, where they are designed and created. This process can take up to two weeks.
Finally, once your teeth have been finished, they are checked for fit, appearance, and bite and then secured into place on the implant posts.
The Same Day Dentures Process
Same day dentures are a bit different. Rather than placing your final dental restorations after you have healed, your final restorations are placed immediately following the completion of your implant surgery.
Before undergoing implant surgery, a consultation is needed. During this consultation, we examine your mouth and go over your medical history to determine if the treatment is right for you.
If you are determined to be a good candidate for same day dentures, digital impressions are taken of your mouth. With these impressions, we can design and fabricate your replacement teeth, which will be ready for you when you arrive for your surgical procedure.
After your surgery is complete, the abutments are placed, and your teeth are secured into place with small screws. You leave your appointment with your brand-new smile.
