Advanced Technology

Dentist explaining digital x-ray to a woman in dental chairAt Periodontal Health Professionals, we pride ourselves on staying up-to-date on the most advanced periodontal technology available today. Our use of cutting-edge technology allows us to better prevent, diagnose, and treat periodontal problems.

Digital Intraoral Cameras (TRIOS Scanner)

An intraoral camera allows us to take a digital impression of your teeth and gums. We use a top-of-the-line device known as the TRIOS scanner. This device takes hundreds of photos per second to produce a detailed, colored, and three-dimensional visualization of your mouth.

Digital impressions have revolutionized the way we place dental implants. It can also give us a detailed look at minor instances of tooth decay and gum disease.

Ultrasonic Scaler and Electric Handpieces

We use an ultrasonic scaler and other electric handpieces to perform cleanings and treat periodontal (gum) disease.

An ultrasonic scaler produces microscopic bubbles that implode on the surface of your teeth. These implosions remove the plaque and tartar deposits from your teeth while killing harmful bacteria. Unlike metal handpieces, the ultrasonic scaler does not put your enamel at risk for additional damage.

Oral Cancer Screening

An oral cancer screening is a precautionary measure that can give you peace of mind. We use the latest diagnostic tools during our screenings to provide a more comfortable and effective experience. We may recommend screening if you are at a greater risk for developing cancer due to factors like genetics and poor personal habits.

CBCT Scanning

Cone beam computed tomography, or CBCT scans, are an important diagnostic tool.

Unlike traditional dental x-rays, a CBCT scan gives us a 3D view of your teeth, supportive bone, and soft tissues. This can be immensely beneficial during the treatment planning for dental implants and other surgical procedures. We may also recommend a scan to help us better diagnose periodontal problems that are not initially visible to the naked eye.

X-Guide Dental Implant Navigation

CBCT technology is an important part of a revolutionary system known as X-Guide dental implant navigation. This 3D navigation system allows us to improve the precision and accuracy of implant placement. Using a CBCT scan and the X-Guide system, Dr. Childers can develop a surgical guide tailored to your smile.

Platelet Rich Plasma and Platelet Rich Fibrin

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet rich fibrin (PRF) are a relatively new part of periodontics. In the past, this revolutionary procedure could only be found in hospitals. Thanks to technological advancements, we now can produce PRP and PRF right here in our office! We use PRGF-Endoret technology, which is one of the most efficient and simple ways to produce PRP and PRF.

PRP and PRF are by-products of the blood that are dense in the platelets responsible for blood clotting. These platelets are also rich in growth factors that stimulate and accelerate tissue healing and regeneration. We may recommend PRP and PRF to improve and expedite the healing process following bone grafting, gum graft surgery, and implant surgery.
